[00:01:18]

I welcome you all with My heart.

[00:01:23]

The ‘I-problem’ is what today’s topic. There are thousands of problems in the world, but not all human beings face one problem. This one problem almost all the human beings, every individual faces, every person undergoes it, either in one way or the other, everybody faces the problem of ‘I’.

[00:02:05]

What is actually the ‘I’-problem? Somebody went to Ramana Maharishi and asked, “Bhagavan, I want peace!” He said, “drop that ‘I’ and the ‘want’, what remains is peace.” “Drop that ‘I’ and the ‘want’, what remains is peace.” Throughout his life, he preached nothing but only one thing, one technique, ask “Who Am 'I'?” For any problem his standard-solution, “Who Am 'I'?”

[00:02:56]

Almost all the religions and all the Masters have spoken, explained on this ‘I’-problem. Upanishad says, ‘Aham Brahmasmi’. Jesus says, ‘Be still and know that I am God.’ Islam says, ‘Anal Haq' - ‘I am the Truth.’ Buddha says, ‘Appo deepo bhava’ - ‘Atma is the Light’, ‘I’ is the Light.’ Jesus says, ‘I am the Path, I am the Goal.’ Krishna says, ‘I am Everything’. The ‘I’ you all should understand, when Krishna says, “I am everything,” He does not mean His form, He does not mean the Vasudeva Krishna. He means that Universal Krishna, that God, the Divine or the Energy who is called in the name of Krishna. When He says, “I am everything”, He does not mean that His form is everything or that the boy who has taken birth for Vasudeva and Devaki; not that small boy, He is the Enlightened Krishna, the Master Krishna.

[00:04:52]

In Krish...in Gita when Krishna says, “I am Everything”, He is in that ecstasy of Enlightenment. That’s why He says, “I am Everything.” Of course, when you are enlightened, you feel that your whole world is ‘you’ and you are the whole world. The energy which moves the sun, which moves the moon, which moves the Earth, the same energy will be moving your body. You will see, you will experience, it is one and the same. Then you will feel that you are everything and everything is you. Only in that Ecstasy everything is you, you are everything, not in the ordinary sense. Sometimes, I do say, Enlightened Master is God, when He was in that ecstasy, when He was in that Enlightenment mood, everything is He. Only in that meaning He said, not that the form of the Krishna.

[00:06:00]

People come and always tell Me, “Swamiji you are God, just by your word, such a big problem has disappeared and such a good things have happened.” I always tell them, “No, don’t think this form is God, this form is not God”. The energy which is beyond this form is God. If you catch this form, then again problem starts. I always tell them, “don’t catch this form. The energy which moves, which works through this form is God.”

[00:06:31]

The other day I went to some devotees house, they were asking Me, “Swamiji, I was following, I was worshipping the other Guru, another one Master.” Now I started, ah, feeling a deep reverence, respect, love for you. Is it any mistake, is there any problem? Am I doing something wrong?” I told, “perfectly all right. Nothing is wrong. It’s not like a shop, if you go to other shop, you should not come to My shop. You come to My shop, you should not go to other shop. No! It’s not like a business. I tell them, at least I tell them, “go wherever it is possible. Go to all the Masters, go to all the Gurus, go to all the religions, go to all the good places. Pluck flower from all the gardens and make a beautiful garland for you. Pluck flowers from all the gardens and make a beautiful maala for you.“

[00:07:33]

You, be very clear, go everywhere. If somebody says, “don’t go to other person,” don’t go only to that place. When somebody says, “don’t go anywhere else”, be very sure, be very clear, that man is fake. An Enlightened man can never say, don’t go to the other persons, don’t go to the other gurus or don’t go to other places. I always tell them, “go wherever you can.” Pluck flowers from all the gardens and make a garland for you, garland for your being. Pluck flowers from all the gardens and make a beautiful bouquet for your being. It is your Ego, which makes you catch the form. Never, never be caught by the form, never be attracted to the form. Just beyond the form the energy which works, that is what is God, not this form.

[00:08:40]

Somebody asked Me, “Swamiji we are seeing, your photos are being worshipped everywhere. “What You feel?”, some of My close devotees asked, “What you feel, when Your photos are being worshipped or when Your name is being chanted? Thousands of people chant Your name as a mantra, thousands of people worship Your photo as a God. What You feel?” I told them, “I tell you very clearly, it’s a...My honest feeling, I don’t feel this form is Me, this body is Me. I don’t feel this name is Mine.” If you feel, this body is you, then you will have Ego. I don’t feel this body is Me.

[00:09:32]

That is why when somebody worships, I also do Namaskar. If you… if I go to some devotees house, there you will see in the puja room My photograph will be there. When I show the arthi, I show..I have to show for that also. I cannot say, “take out… take away My photo, only then I can do puja.” No. I show to that photograph also. So I always I tell them, I don’t associate Me or I don’t feel that I am only this 6-feet body. But if you feel, I am only this 6-feet body, then you will be missing something very big. I told them, the Krishna when He says, “I am the world, I am the God, everything is in Me”, He is in that ecstasy of Enlightenment - He means the energy, which is called ‘Krishna’, not the man who is Krishna. Not the ordinary man who is Krishna.

[00:10:32]

Then they asked Me, “No, when Krishna says, it is only the man who is Krishna, the form which is Krishna, what is the proof, it is not the man? Where is the proof, it is not the man, it is only the energy experience?” Then I quoted a small incident from Bharata, Mahabharata. I want to tell you the incident. After the Gita, after the Kurukshetra war, after the war, war which has happened for 18 days, once the war is over, after some two, three months, in a very relaxed way, Krishna and Arjuna, they were going for a outing, for a picnic, to a nearby forest. At that time again Arjuna is...Arjuna asked Krishna, “Oh Krishna, You said so many great things in the Gita, at the time of war. Because I was too busy with the war, I forgot all the truths which you uttered. I forgot Your great teachings. Please You repeat now once more, I wanted to record the whole thing for my future reference. Please can You repeat the whole thing? I have forgotten everything.” You should remember this one word. Krishna says, “Forgive Me! I have also forgotten. I have also forgotten.”

[00:12:13]

At that time He makes a beautiful statement, when I, when Arjuna is asking, “What do You say, what do You mean you have forgotten?” Krishna says, “I was in that inspired Consciousness. When I spoke Gita, I was in that enlightened mood. The enlightened energy was working through Me.” He says, “it is not Me! ‘Deham Naham. It is not this body which was speaking, when I gave the Gita, it is not Vasudeva Krishna, it is Parabrahma Krishna. It is not Vasudeva Krishna, it is Parabrahma Krishna. It is the divine energy which spoke those words. So, I do not know what I spoke! I can do one thing, whatever I remember, I’ll recollect and present it to you, give it to you; if you want, note down those things.” So second time, whatever He remembers, very little He repeats and that is compiled and titled, as ‘Anugita’. There is a one more Gita said by Krishna in the Mahabharata, which is a proof, Gita, Krishna does not mean the form of Krishna. It is something beyond, the energy. That is what Jesus also means, ‘Be still and know that I am God’, means he says that ‘I’ within Himself is God. And when Islam prophets say, ‘Anal Haq’ - ‘I am the truth’, the ‘I’ stands for the energy, ‘I’ stands for the Divinity. To prove when Krishna means, when Krishna says, “I Am everything”, He does not mean the Vasudeva Krishna, He means the Parabrahma Krishna. The energy is Krishna. The formless spirit, which is Krishna.

[00:14:28]

The ‘I’, the mistaking of the ‘I’ not only happens… it also not only happens in the Puranic Ages or between the Master and disciple, it also happens in your system. The ‘I’ if it is understood, it becomes just the Divine or the God. If it is not understood, it creates all sorts of trouble, all sorts of trouble.

[00:15:07]

Anybody you ask, “What is the reason for all the trouble?,” they will tell, “Ego Swamiji.” Everybody knows, which creates trouble, which creates the troubles. Everybody knows it is just the Ego. Everybody knows it is just the Ego, but nobody could overcome, nobody could cross it. In one side, people say, “Ego is the trouble.” The other side, the Masters, they declare, “I am the God, I am the truth, I am everything.” There also it is ‘I’, here also it is ‘I’. What is the difference between these two ‘I’? How can they say, “I am the truth.” There are beautiful sayings. There are beautiful utterances - vedAhametam puruSHam mahAntam, Amritasya Putra Shrinwantu Vishwe Amritasya Putra,” - “I have known the Ultimate Truth, you people are the Embodiment of Divine Consciousness.”

[00:16:27]

There are verses in the Upanishads, “You people are the expression of the Ultimate Intelligence.” In so many places so many Masters they declare, ‘I’ is God, ‘I’ is the Truth. In the Vedas there is a big Mahavakya called, “Aham Brahmasmi”, means - “I am the God.” There is one more Mahavakya called “Shivoham” - “I am the Shiva.” “Soham” - “I am That.” In all the religion the ultimate statement is, “I am the Truth, I am the God.” What do they mean, when I...when they say, “I”, “I”, “I”? With ordinary sense the ‘I’ only creates all the troubles. In our life the “I” only creates all the trouble, all the problems. In their life “I” only is felt as a God.

[00:17:37]

What is the difference between your ‘I’ and their ‘I’? What is the difference between our ‘I’ and their ‘I’? With our ‘I’ we continuously suffer. From morning till night, everything, what do you think: “What is there for me?” Any incident, any situation, you try to put your ‘I’ in front. The ‘I’ smells very badly in our life. It creates very bad smell, you...you should see there are people, as I was telling the other day, they will present one tube light to the temple. In that tube light their whole family name will be there. If you switch on, only the black lines will be there on the…, on the…, on the wall. No light will come, will be out.

[00:18:32]

Wherever we go, whatever situation comes, we always present, we always project, we are always first to say, “What is there for me?” in our mind. Any situation you deal only, “How can I be in front?” “How can I be in front?” You try your best to push yourself. You try your best to be in the front, to show your ‘I’, but finally you get only the blows. Whenever we work hard to keep our ‘I’ in front, we get only the blows, nothing else, nothing else but the blows.

[00:19:23]

With our life ‘I’ creates so much of problem. And not only that, the very ‘I’ itself becomes a problem. With this great Masters’ life, with this enlightened peoples’ life, the very ‘I’ is such a joy, ecstasy. What is the difference? For us the same ‘I’ is a hell. For them the same...the same ‘I’ is heaven. For us, the same ‘I’ is a problem. For them the same ‘I’ is Bliss.

[00:20:01]

There are verses you should ah read that “Sivoham, Sivoham,” by Shankara. He says, “I am the Shiva!”, “I am the God.” There is a beautiful Devi suktam, “ahaM rudre bhiR,” - “I am the Gods of all the Universe.” One side, the enlightened people worship the ‘I’, the other side, ordinary people are just crushed, disturbed continuously, facing problems after problems by this ‘I’. What is the difference between this two? Why they should suffer, they should have problems? And why Masters should have Bliss from the same ‘I’?

[00:00:15]

Taittiriya upanishad very beautifully says, there’s a very big Upanishad which deals on this “I” subject. It says, ordinary person never uses his ‘I’ totally. Enlightened persons uses His ‘I’ totally. There is no difference between you and the enlightened; there is a only one difference. If you know the methods and techniques to use your ‘I’ totally, it expands. If you don’t know, to use your system, methods, your ‘I’ totally, then you are in trouble. Whenever you don’t use your being totally, don’t think not only it’s not used. The one more big trouble is there; when it is not used, it becomes cancer, in your being. Anything which is not used, which is not helping your system, which is not becoming your being, that will become a cancerous growth. Am I right? Anything which does not allow your body function, any new object, any new thing, which has entered in your body but which is not becoming your body, which is not becoming your being, which is not absorbed in your system, if it stands alone, if it stands separately, not only it is not useful, it will become cancer. It will become a seed for any cancerous growth.

[00:01:56]

The same way, if you don’t use your ‘I’ totally, it is not only that you are not using it, that will become a cancer in your being. We all carry the cancer which is called ‘I’, the unused ‘I’, which we name it, which we can name it as a ‘ego’. What is the difference between your ‘I’ and their ‘I’? When you don’t use your ‘I’ totally, it becomes cancerous. The river, if it continuously flows, river also will be pure, whomsoever comes near the river, they will also be purified. If it does not flow, if it becomes a small pool, what happens? It gets dirty, it gets contaminated. First, it becomes dirty, whomsoever comes near, they also become dirty. The sameway, your being, when you use your being totally, when it expands, when it becomes total, it will be joyful, blissful, it will be in eternal bliss, nithya ananda. And it will make everybody joyful, everybody blissful, everybody beautiful.

[00:03:26]

When you are flowing, expanding, you will be in eternal bliss, and you will make whomsoever comes around you, you will put them also in the eternal bliss, nithya ananda. But when you become a pool, you will also be in a very low mood, depressed, always dull, dead. If you are a river, you make yourself joyful, and others also. If you become a pool, not only you stink, you create smell, you disturb others also. Whomsoever comes around you, you put them also into the same smell, you create disturbance for them also.

[00:04:20]

What is the way to be a river? What is the way to expand? What is the way to be total? What is the way to be a big ‘I’? I always say, the difference between your ‘I’ and their ‘I’ is small ‘i’ and the capital ‘I’. For you it’s a small ‘i’, for them it’s a big ‘I’. What’s the difference between your ‘I’ and their ‘I’? It’s nothing but small ‘i’ and the capital ‘I’. Once you understand you are a total, once you start using your total… it’s actually using, nothing else, you have tremendous potentiality in your system. If you just know how to use, how to expand, that’s enough, you will see you reach the big “I” state.

[00:05:22]

There are five techniques, or understandings, given to us, to use ourselves totally, to use ourselves to the maximum, by Taittiriya upanishad, a great Upanishad. Upanishads are nothing but the research reports of the great Enlightened Masters. It’s the research report of inner scientists. You have two kinds of scientist, one is outer scientist, whom you know, all these scientist - scientist who has created this mic, scientist who has created this video camera, scientist who has created this light, all these people are scientists of the outer world. There are scientists who work on the inner world. They are only called as Rishis, Enlightened Masters. When inner world scientists, when they become enlightened, they publish their research report, how they walk, what all the difficulties they faced, what all the ways they lived, what are the ways they overcome the difficulties, and how they reached the ultimate state. Their reports are only called as Upanishads.

[00:06:49]

The Buddha’s report to the world is what is Dhammapada. Shankara’s report to the world is only all his Bhasyas, all his commentaries. When Masters publish their report, give their report to the world, is called Upanishads. Here is a beautiful Upanishad, Taittiriya Upanishad, gives five level, five techniques, five understandings, to live your life to its maximum, to its optimum. I’ll just make a small diagram, to show the five level of your ‘I’, of your ‘I’. How your small ‘i’ can become bigger ‘I’. Let Me explain. First layer your ‘I’ is called annamaya, second layer is called pranamaya, third is called manomaya, fourth is called vijnanamaya, fifth is called anandamaya.

[00:08:00]

You can’t and you.. there is no need to remember the sanskrit names, just if you understand, that’s enough. Annamaya means, the body which you use now, this body, this is the first layer. Pranamaya means the second layer, the air circulation which is happening in your system, is second layer. Manomaya, the inner chattering which is continuously going in your system, is called third layer. The sleeping hours is called fourth layer, your energy or the your ananda, your excitement, your happiness, your bliss, is called fifth layer. Then when you cross the fifth layer, you become the big ‘I’ than the small ‘i’. Here, you are buddhu (Swamiji gesturing to centre of diagram drawn on the board), here you are Buddha (Swamiji gestures to periphery of diagram).

[00:09:03]

When you don’t use your being totally, you are simply buddhu. When you use all your five system, all your five layers totally, you are a Buddha. It is not that somebody can use and somebody can’t use, everybody can use. It is available for everybody, only it is up to you whether to use it or not, whether to have it or not. It is your individual decision. Here, I am going to just give you few small explanation on the understanding about these five layers. Then you can decide whether to use your systems and become joyful, whether to flow like a river or to be like a pool, small pond. But be very sure, whenever even one layer which is not used, not only you don’t use 20% of your being, that 20% becomes cancer, it becomes a cancerous growth. Not only it’s a less, it is something worse. Simply if it is only less, nothing much is lost, after all little bit. But it is not only less, it becomes worst; something cancerous in your system.

[00:10:42]

First, annamaya kosha, the first layer. The Upanishad says beautifully, ‘annam brahmeti vyajanat’ The food is God, “anna” means the food, food is God, don’t waste it. The original meaning is simply understood opposite way. People think ‘don’t waste it’ means, “Oh, Upanishads says, eat it away everything.” Whenever I go to the devotees house, it is a prestige for them to feed Me. For Me it’s a life and death question. For them it’s only prestige, so what they do? They fill the whole table, not only the leaf, the whole table with all types of food. And then they put everything in..into My plate, leaf, then they tell Me, “No, no, no, Swamiji, You should not waste the food. Please eat it away.” They try to guide Me, “No, no, no, You should not waste the food, please eat it, Swamiji.”

[00:11:57]

See, if you waste the food outside, only the food will be wasted. If you waste the food inside, the system also will be wasted. Just because it will be wasted, if you put the food inside, what will happen? The system also will be wasted. There are few guidelines about your food to expand this…this body, to use this body at its maximum, at its maximum. If you follow these guide… few basic guidelines on the food, you will see your body is alive, active, throughout the day - from the moment you get up from your bed, to the moment you go to bed. You know only one thing in your life, the no disease-ness, never the health. We forgot the very concept of health. There’s a beautiful verse which says about health, quotation it says about health. What is health means, it is from tantra: when you get up from your bed, when you get up from the bed what will be your first activity? Going to the bathroom. Your steps from bed to the bathroom should never be a steps, it should be more like a dance, it should never be like a steps, it should be more like a dance. Then you can say you are healthy.

[00:13:38]

The first activity, as soon as you wake up, your mood and your body language, if it is just bubbling, overflowing, joyful, ecstatic, alive, then you can say you are healthy. Otherwise be very clear, you are clinically alright, that’s all. You have no disease, but you cannot say you are healthy. You can never say you are healthy. The disease is yet to be discovered, that’s all; yet to be discovered, yet to be diagnosed. It is there, it’s not yet known. Only when you are in that well being, as soon as, as soon as you come out of the unconsciousness, in the early morning, as soon as you wake up from your bed, you come out of unconsciousness. At that moment, if you radiate life, joy, ecstasy, you can be sure you are healthy. Otherwise, you are yet to be diagnosed, that’s all. That is only title, not that you are healthy, be very clear.

[00:14:46]

Have you seen the nature, you can see early morning, a bird, as soon as its, it comes out of the sleep, it’ll just chirp and make sound. Cat, it’ll just stretch the whole body. Dog, it will just go and verify its boundaries, whether things are going well, whether everything is perfect. Calf, it’ll just, like a, at least round the mother, or the small stump in which he’s tied. All the animals, you can see, early morning they will be alive, fresh, responding to the nature. Human being is the only animal, as soon as he gets up, just turns and pulls the bedsheet up, goes back to sleep. As soon as you get up, what you do? Over turn, pull the bedsheet and go to sleep. Human being is the only animal who is not fresh after his sleep and after his food, who is not fresh after his food. We are the only animals who are, who have disconnected themselves from the nature. We are the only being who have disconnected ourselves from the nature. No other animal has missed the nature.

[00:16:27]

Small story: Once a man who is 40 years, he somehow want to get rid of his wife, and the wife’s cat; 40 to 50 only that new knowledge descends on you. He somehow wants to get rid of his wife and the wife’s cat. Anyway, he couldn’t, he could do nothing about the wife. At least the wife’s cat, he wants to drive the cat. He took the cat in his car and some ten miles away he left the cat and came back to the house. As soon as he came to the house, he entered the house, he saw the cat is standing. Cat’s can catch the way by smell. Next day, he picked up the cat, went to some twenty miles, left the cat, came back to the house. Next day he saw, as soon as he came to the house, within ten minutes, he heard the sound, he turned and saw, the cat is standing. That day he was terribly upset. He took the cat, put it in a gunny bag, packed it, took the, he took some unknown streets, unknown roads, right, left, this way, that way. He reached some ranch, some forest, then he felt, “Yes, this is surely new place, even for me. I’ve never come here. Even for me it is a new place, surely this cat, cat cannot find way. Let me leave this cat now, here.” He left the cat, and he’s driving back to the home, suddenly in between he had the doubt, serious doubt. He rang up to the house, “Dear, the cat has come?” he is asking his wife. She said, “Oh, it is here. It’s already here, what are you talking?” The next question he asked, “Please find out the way from the cat, I’ve missed my way, I lost my way.” Human being is the only animal who lost his touch with the nature. Who lost his way. All the other animals know their way, only human beings is the animal who lost his way.

To keep this body, the Annamaya kosha, the first layer of your ‘I’, alive, active and fresh, three, three tips; if you understand this three is enough. First thing, there are three types of dosha. Dosha means, dosha word cannot be exactly translated in English. Dosha means defects, you understand that much. Three kinds of defects are there in the food. If you avoid these three kinds of defects, then you will see the body will be alive throughout the day. They call it jati dosha, nimitta dosha, ashraya dosha. These are sanskrit terms, if you understand the meaning. Jati dosha means by its own nature, the food which should not be taken. There are many food, by its own nature, it’s not good for your health. How to find out? After eating if you feel your stomach or your body, you will feel the uneasiness - All the junk food, all the soda, all the soda items; all the junk food you can see, after eating if you just sit and watch your system… you never sit and watch your system. You watch everybody’s system, you watch everybody, but you never watch your own Being, your own Self. You know all the great Masters they say, your body always speaks to you, you never speak with your body. You never relate with your body. There’s a meditation technique in tantra to relate with your body, in which you are supposed to relate with your body, talk to your body. You feel awkward, what, how to talk with my body?

[00:02:10]

You talk with everybody but you never talk to yourself. You never sense or you never feel what happens in yourself, in your system. Whenever you take any junk food, you always, you can always see, you feel too much. It is called jati dosha. By nature the food, which is to be avoided: non-veg, onion, garlic, green chili; which makes you tense if you eat that hot, hot food. I have seen, especially this Andhra, the gongura chutney. Just chili, nothing else; eyes will be pouring, their body will beg them, please leave me. But for the sake of tongue (Swamiji gestures) not even they will touch like this, they will (Swamiji gestures), with all 2-3 fingers they will take and taste. 😊 Just the word, I think many mouths are giving saliva. 😊😊 Just the word is enough, gongura chutney, many mouths have started feeling. 😊 Body just begs and many time you can see your body begs you, to allow itself to live. But just for the sake of taste, you put everything, anything and everything inside, alcohol, smoke. By their very nature, the food which has to be avoided, vegetarian, the non-veg food, non-veg food has to, these are the first thing.

[00:03:56]

The next thing, of course, I am not going to give any rules, I am giving only the understanding. Because if I start giving rules, there will be one thousand question. If I allow this subject to be questioned, you will see, 😊 we will be stuck here itself. “No Swamiji, doctors say this is good, doctors say that is good.” Somebody came and told Me “Swamiji, doctors said me to drink wine, what should I do?” Doctor would have suggested only little bit, but you use that as a visa, what can be done? It is you, who has to decide, not Me. I am just giving you the understanding, if you want your Being to be alive, to expand to the energy. If you want to keep yourself active, then understand these things, try your best to follow. I am not giving you any rules or morality. I don’t believe in conscience, I believe in consciousness. I don’t believe in rules, I believe in experience. So I am not here to give you any rules. But I can give you some understandings. These are just the research reports. Of course, when you get into some trouble and go to some doctor or some psychiatrist, when he says- you’ll obey. When Rishis or Masters say, we have all our reluctance and all our questions. We want to have all sorts of exemptions, exemptions.

[00:05:35]

People come and ask Me, “Swamiji”... for the healing I give them one or two diets. “Swamiji can I have little bit of this, I have to eat with my kids Swamiji, I have no other way, I can have little bit of exemption?” I tell them, for cancers and all I tell them, please don’t eat non-veg for 21-days, so that healing will be effective. The healing will be more active. Please don’t drink, at least for 21 days, till you get healed. They say “No, no, no Swamiji, I have to go to this party, that party.” Then go and die, who doesn’t, who says no. It’s you decide, whether to go and die by cancer or should...should I get healed? It is your choice, it is their choice. They want the healing also and they want all exemptions also. Mm... Whenever you want, we go for exemption, we ask for exemption, what will I tell? If you come and ask, if they come and ask Me, what can I tell, I cannot say anything strict, I say, “All right, carry on.” It is only, they should decide. Whenever the doctors say, they will obey totally, when the Masters say it is little difficult. Then they think...they think, “No, no, no, He is giving it as a morality, He’s giving it as a regulations.” I am not giving these things as a regulations, I am not giving these things as a morality, I am giving these things as a understanding. The big difference is there, if you think you should not jump the red signal, if this is a, if you think this is a rule, you always try to jump. If you think this as a rule, what will you do? You will just see, if there is no cop (Swamiji gestures with hands).

[00:07:25]

If you take things as a rule, you always try to go beyond, because your nature is searching for freedom. Your instinct is asking for freedom. If you take anything as a rule, you will always try to go beyond it, you will try to break it. Don’t take these things as a rule. ‘You should not jump the red signal’ is an understanding. You should take that as an understanding - “If I jump, if everybody starts jumping, the whole road will be mess, it’ll be an accident. It’s a contract between Me and My next person, the other person, who drives the car. It’s a contract, mutual contract between all of us.” It is a contract between you and your next man, you and your other colleague. It is just a understanding, it is not the rule. When you look at the whole thing as this way, you will never feel like a jumping the signal. You will never feel like crossing the signal. Because when it becomes understanding, it becomes your blood and bone. If it’s a rule, it is only the skin deep. You try to go beyond. So, take all these things as understanding not as a rule. If you take all these things as a rule, as soon as you go out, what will you tell, “Swami spoke nicely, He can do, He’s a Swami, what we can do, we cannot pract ...practice all these things, these are all impractical for us, you see. And especially even if we are in India, we could have done something. We are in America, it’s a different culture, different society.” Nothing! Simply our laziness, our misunderstanding, we put it on the society, we put it on the culture, we put on everybody’s head, except our head; except our head, we put everything on everybody’s head. Only it never reaches our head. Take all these things as understanding not as a rule.

[00:09:47]

Jati dosha is the thing, food, by its own nature to be avoided. Next thing: nimitta dosha. If it is, if there is a dirt, if it is someway became dirty, you shouldn’t take. Of course, the hygienic standard of America is really good, so there is no need to bother about the nimitta dosha here. Third is ashraya dosha. This is the great thing, this is the thing which you need to understand. Never ill treat or misbehave with your cook. Don’t think it’s a rule. Now I read the report, there’s a book called Mind Matters. In that they say, if you eat the food which is cooked by your enemy or a person, who is not happy with you, who is continuously having a negative thoughts about you, within 21 days you get ulcer. Within 21 days your stomach gets disturbed. Please be very clear, they say it is not that when you cook, you put only ingredients, you put your thoughts also. You put your thoughts also; your thoughts play a major role in all your deed. And the one more thing they say, the same physical, the physics experiment in the physics, the same experiment done with the same instrument, in the same temperature, with the same things, by two persons, shows two different results. By this they come to the conclusion, the person, the thoughts, the being also plays a role in the outer activities. Your thoughts do have a major effect in all your deeds, and whatever you touch.

[00:11:56]

Ramanuja says, Ramanuja is a great acharya, He says, don’t eat the food cooked by wrong persons. Don’t eat the food touched by your enemy. It’s not that … it is given as a morality. You need to understand one thing, your thoughts play a major role in your deeds. And not only that, you radiate your thoughts. That’s why with some people you feel naturally attracted. With some people you feel, just by one, one seeing or twice seeing, you feel as if you want to know about that person, as if you have known him for a long time, you wanted him or her to be around you, or you want to meet them again. For some persons, as soon as you see, you feel like a (Swamiji gesturing with hands) escaping. You somehow wants to run away. Even if they come, you say thank you, thank you - you just move, walk off. Why with somebody you fall in tune, with somebody you just run away. Thoughts radiate a special miru. Thoughts radiate a special light, it is called Aura Body. Just around your body, your thoughts just emit energy, so don’t think, thoughts are dead things, they are alive energy. Whenever somebody touches some food, their thoughts also enter into that food. So, if you eat the food cooked by person who is not happy with you, what he will be thinking when he cooks? He’ll be only cursing you.

[00:14:09]

I always tell them, never disturb your cook and the driver. Of course here, the problem, no driver, so no problem. Never disturb your cooks, never misbehave with them, give them all your respect and keep..keep them always in a good mood, keep them always in a good way. Because when they cook, don’t think they put only the ingredients, they put also the… their thoughts. Jati dosha, nimitta dosha, ashraya dosha. When you understand these 3 basic things about the food, I’ll tell in the English, the nature of the food and the hygienic - food should be totally clean. Third thing, main, the food should be handled only by the person who has got good thoughts, and the same way if you cook, cook always with the divine name in your heart. Or the good thoughts in your being, then you will see, the whole house will have a beautiful happy stomach. They will have nothing, no problem with the stomach. And even if you have to go and eat in the restaurants outside, before taking the food, any food, just meditate for few minutes, send the positive energy to the food, then you take that food. You will see, your body feels light, your body feels very light. When you take the food which is cooked by the person who has got negative emotions, you will always see you are affected by it. One more thing, this is the main thing to be understood, whenever you eat how to eat, the attitude of eating.

[00:16:19]

There’s a small story. Once a king went to a Zen Master and asked: ”Master, I heard that you are a great Enlightened man, you are always happy, you are so joyful, radiant, alive! You just emit energy, just by your Presence, we feel so happy. What you do, what is the practice you do, to reach this state, to be in this state, tell me. What kind of meditations you do? What all the spiritual practices you are observing?” He said, “What? Practice? I eat when I eat, I sleep when I sleep, that’s all.” He could not understand. He asked, please give me little more explanation. Master says, “No, when I eat, I eat, when I sleep, I sleep that’s all. This much only is my practice. I am quite happy.” Actually when you eat you don’t eat. When you eat, at that time only you bring all your worries, all your troubles, all your planning. Just imagine or remember the scene of your eating - quickly grabbing, that’s one thing. Next thing, you’ll be having all sorts of planning mentally - what to do next, where to go, how about this, how about that, everything. Except eating, your mind does everything, your mind does everything. Your mind never enjoys, or your mind never feels the food, your mind never feels the food. Your Being never feels the food. You just grab the whole thing, you just put it inside and fill your body, over.

[00:18:27]

When the Upanishad says: annam brahmeti vyajanat - Food is God, don’t waste it. If you eat without paying the attention to the food, you are disrespecting the food. It is just like throwing into the dustbin. When you throw it into the dustbin you don’t bother what is there in the plate. The sameway, when you throw it in your body, into your mouth, if you don’t bother what you are eating, what is the food, if you don’t, if you are not sensitive to the food, what is happening? Again you are just misbehaving with the food, that is what is the right word. If you eat without enjoying it, without tasting it, if you eat thinking of something else, you are disrespecting the food. You are misbehaving with the food. You are just wasting the food. Nothing else, you are just wasting the food. When Upanishad says don’t waste, they say, eat with respect. But you never do it. Understand this one thing, whenever you eat, that ten minutes, twenty minutes, give it for eating. Give it for eating and give it for drinking. You will see, first thing, the food becomes tasty, next thing, your body becomes alive. You will not feel the heaviness. If you eat with awareness you will never overeat, because your body has got it’s own intelligence to control. If you eat with awareness, you will never overeat and you can very clearly find out, which food suits you, which food does not. If you just eat with awareness, that itself is a great meditation, nothing else. You don’t need any other technique. Eating with awareness, itself, itself is enough; itself is enough unto itself. Eating itself can become a meditation. Next thing, you will never overeat. Third thing, your body itself will understand what is good for you and what is not good for you. Your whole food habit will be regularized, if you eat with the awareness.

[00:00:15]

These are the few tips to keep your first layer, first layer of your ‘I’, to keep alive. Next thing, pranamaya kosha. pranam brahmeti vyajanat. Again the Upanishad says, prana is god. Don't waste it, you need to understand this word. Prana is god. Don't waste it. If you waste the five layers of your ‘I’ then only you shrink yourself and you are only in the small ‘i’. If you use all the layers of your ‘I’ you’ll become a bigger ’I’. Prana is energy, don't think prana means air. It’s a subtle energy which is carried by air is called prana. Whenever the air circulation happens in your system, a subtle energy which goes in and comes out is the thing which is called prana.

[00:01:23]

What is meant by don't waste it? Don't breathe in a very half minded way. You breathe throughout the day but, do you mind your breathing? All of you if you mind you will see you are breathing only very short. You don't breathe in a deep long way. Have you seen that Ganesha’s statue? It's got a big belly. If you breathe totally… actually the Ganesha is considered as a god who is in muladhara chakra. He’s the God of intelligence. If you breathe deeply, you will see your intelligence also becomes just like Ganesha. That's why he’s showed with big nose, long nose. He’s the God in muladhara. If you breathe deeply, the muladhara will be awakened. All your energy centers will be alive. As on now you are alive, you are at your peak only in the moments of sex. Whenever your muladhara is active, alive, your whole being comes to life. Whenever you are fantasizing, whenever you are in the mood of sex, you will see your whole being is active, vibrant, alive.

[00:02:48]

Now, only in the time at the time of sex and the fantasizing you are alive. But by the deep breathing, your body can be alive throughout the day; throughout the day and throughout the year, it can become alive. It can become beautiful. There is a meditation technique. Many people come and tell Me, report Me “Swamiji with that meditation, I feel that I am reaching the state of peak; I feel that inside my being that organsmic experience is happening. What is happening? How can meditation take me to the such a peak experience?” I tell them, it’s nothing to do with the outer person, outer - man or women. It is something to do with your energy system.

[00:03:42]

There's a book called ‘Discovering Love’. In that backside I have given a quotation. When I say, “Surrender in love”, I don't say surrender to the partner, I say, “Surrender to the experience which is love.” The same way, it is an experience, it is not because of the other; we always mistake the joy is because of the outer world, the outer man or outer woman. No. It is because of the inner alchemy. Because your energy is awakened, you feel the joy and ecstasy, never because of the outer man and outer woman.

[00:04:22]

A small example from Ramana Maharishi. A dog has got one bone, dry bone. It started biting, biting, biting and playing with the bone and finally the bone has scratched his own mouth and blood started coming out, oozing from his mouth. Then the dog was just enjoying the blood thinking that blood is from the bone. Just like that dog, that dog which enjoys that dry bone and sucks his own blood thinking that blood is coming from the bone, blood is coming from the outside… just like that dog, we also use this dry bones of the outer world and we get the joy from our own system, from our own being. But, we think the joy is from the bone. It is just your alchemy. If you change your alchemy, if you can change your system, if you can change your breathing you will see continuously, 24 hours you are in the orgasmic joy. You are in that ecstasy.

[00:05:43]

People ask Me, “How can a man go beyond the worldly pleasures?” Somebody, many - I have seen many people, especially the intellectuals, people who have read too much. Actually one person, one elderly pundit. He was asking Me, according to the shastras, in My, uh, the shastras says, 25 years of brahmacharya, 25 years grihastha, 25 years vanaprasta, and 25 years sanyasa. “According to the rule You should have been grihastha.” He asked Me, “You should have been a grihastha. Why You became a sanyasi?” I told him, “According to the rules you should have become sanyasi by this…”, because he was above 75. “You have not become, to compensate like you persons only I have became swami.” 😊 Then he said, “Poor man in this young age You have become Swami” I said, “You poor, I feel only sorry for you, you don't know the state, in the ecstasy of joy in which I am. Don't feel sorry for Me, I only feel sorry for you; poor man still now suffering in the world.” 😊 He said, looking at Me, “Oh in this young age You have become Swami, very bsh.” I told... “I only should feel sorry, I only feel poor even after this age you feel still you are still suffering. Caught up in the world and bondages.”

[00:07:28]

There is a beautiful Upanishad says, when a man becomes enlightened, every - every hair follicles emits the joy, or ecstasy of orgasm. Every hair fol...just it emits the ecstasy, every inch of your being emits the ecstasy or the joy continuously, 24 hours. I tell you from My experience it is truth. It just consciously feels joyful, ecstatic. I tell them because continuously inside the joy is flowing, it is just bubbling. I don't need the outer joys. This is the way the real, the renunciation happens. When you are so ecstatic, bubbling inside your being you don't need anything from the outer world, from the outside. Neither pleasure nor comforts; you are totally ease with your being, with your system.

[00:08:37]

When you breathe with awareness, you will see your muladhara awakens. Vinayaka Ganesh is the muladhara, representative of muladhara. Whenever you chant the Ganapati mantra, you will see that muladhara awakens. ‘Gam’ is the Ganapati’s beeja. If you say the ‘Gam’ you will see exactly on muladhara it resonates; in the muladhara it will resonate. Muladhara means where your spinal cord ends. The sex center. If you utter that word ‘Gam’ you will see there, like a hammer it will be vibrating. The Ganapati mantra awakens the muladhara. Anyhow, if you just breathe deeply that’s enough, you will see the pranamaya kosha, the second layer of your body expands. As deeply as possible, whenever you find time, if you are driving, if you are just sitting, if you are uh, relaxing in your house, if you are taking bath, whenever you remember, just start breathing as deeply as possible. You will see, whole body gets awakened, alive. Whenever you are alive, you will see that eh - the breathing will become fast at the time of anger, at the time of sex, at the time of violence, whenever you remember somebody whom you hate; you can see always the breathing will become fast. Whenever you make the breathe fast, you will become alive. Your being is flooded with life. You reach that beautiful ecstatic layer. So, whenever you remember, immediately start breathing as deeply as possible throughout the day. You’ll see you will be more alive and more active.

[00:10:38]

There is a third layer, manomaya kosha, the inner chattering is what is third layer of your ‘I’ - manomaya kosha. How to keep the third layer alive, active? How to use the third layer, alive and active? The manomaya kosha. Whenever you remember… there's a beautiful sutra: manam brahmeti vyajanat. The layer of the mind is God, don't waste it. You waste, how you know? Throughout the day you can see you will be continuously thinking for no use at all. Throughout the day you will be continuously thinking but there will be no use. If you just sit for five minutes, today all of you practice this one thing. When you go back to your house, sit just for five minutes and write down all your thoughts. Write down all your thoughts. You will see, more than 80% is only junk thoughts. Like a junk mails. When you see your mails, whatever is not useful for you, you’ll say that as a junk mail. Just like that, if you read, write your thoughts and see, 80%. You may think, “Oh 80% is too much Swamiji, maybe 20 - 30 %”. But please you write down and see. Then you will understand 80% is not useful directly to your life. It is not useful directly to your life at all. Either for your growth… I am not telling only for the spiritual life, even for your ordinary life. It will not be useful for your money making, or for your business, or for your health or for your being.

[00:12:41]

You may say, “No no, 80% is too much.” But I have experimented with 100’s of people, I always found this 80% is right ratio. 80% will be just junk thoughts. Whenever you find time, sit and try to analyze your thoughts. It is like cleaning the cobwebs, analyzing your thoughts is equal to cleaning your cobwebs at least once in ten days. Analyzing thoughts, what are you thinking actually? What's going on in your mind? You see, all your thoughts put together, the totality of your thoughts only is your life. Am I right? Totality of your thoughts only is your life. If a big lunatic asylum is going on inside, what will be your life? If you note down your thoughts, if you write down your thoughts, you will find it’s nothing but a big lunatic asylum is going on. Every si- every corner, everybody is jumping. Each side, each fellow is shouting. You do not know what is happening in your system. It’s just like asylum. In asylum you can see one fellow will be shouting, one fellow will be rolling, one fellow will be jumping, one fellow will be... Each fellow will be doing their own way. Nothing is regularized, nothing is controlled. Just the same way only your mind. It is not, don't think it’s a clear system, it’s a chaotic system. Try to analyze your thoughts, thoughts are weapons. Don't think they are just dead instruments. What you think, that only you will speak.

[00:14:38]

Thoughts are nothing but weapons. Try to analyze your thoughts. I don’t say correct your thoughts, never try to correct them. Just analyse you will see they correct by themselves. When you try to correct, you will be fighting with yourself. Never. You will be trying to fly by holding your shoes. By pulling your shoes can you fly? Never. Never try to fight with your thoughts, never try to correct them. Because I know all of you tried all your best to correct your thoughts. But never it gets corrected, only you are getting corrected. You finally come to a conclusion, thoughts cannot be controlled. You don't correct, just analyze and find out where the trouble is. Thoughts are just like- mind is just like a small kid. If you tell him, keep quiet, do this, do that he will never obey. Just you watch him, very relaxed way, slowly, let him move around the hall, just sit and watch him, you will see within two, three minutes he will just look at you once, second time, finally when he sees you are silently watching, he will automatically sit silently, keep quiet. Am I right? If you try to control the kids, they will never respond, you just try to witness him, watch him. He will silently come and sit next to you.

[00:16:09]

Mind is just like a child. A small incident happened in Buddha's life. A emperor came to see Buddha. He was sitting and just shaking like this, legs, shaking the legs. I have seen many people doing this, have you seen? Like this just shaking. It shows the inner restlessness, nothing else. Inside the restlessness and leg is doing only and finally they get into Parkinsons. It starts shaking by itself. 😊 After a few uh, after some time you don't need to shake but it shakes by itself. Parkinsons. No this is a habit only, it ends up in the Parkinsons. And that emperor was just shaking, shaking continuously. Buddha did not tell anything, he just watched him. He gave him a look. Suddenly emperor stopped. He understood. It stopped. The emperor asked, “Master, how can I stop my mind?” Buddha says, “The sameway which I stopped your leg. I didn't say to stop you, I just watched you, I just gave a look. When you understood that you are shaking you automatically stopped it. You automatically stopped it.” It's not that you tried, you also took some, mm, time or the method or the technique to stop it. If I say stop your legs, you will ask, “Swamiji please give me the technique how to stop.” No need for any technique. Buddha just looked, the king stopped. Sameway look at your mind, you will see it will stop because mind works only when there is unconsciousness.

[00:18:14]

Whenever you find time… Find time, don't think whenever you find- whenever, when I say that ‘whenever you find time’, you decide “No, no, no, I don't have time.” When I tell the people ‘meditate’, they always tell Me, “Swamiji, I don't have time” as if everybody else is doing nothing, he's the only person who is doing the world's work. You see, never say you don't have time, you say one thing, ‘I can't give so much of importance to the meditation. I have much more important work than meditation’, then, it, things are understood. Then what you say is truth. Everybody has got only that much of time. How can you say you don't have time? You can say, ‘I dont- I can't give so much of importance to meditation because I have much more important work.’ If you say that then you can say you are honest. So never say you don't have time. Make some time instead of sitting and watching in front of your TV, you can sit and watch your mind, but you will see much bigger shows inside your mind. 😊You will see much beautiful shows inside your mind.

[00:19:27]

When you sit and watch, witness your thoughts, you'll see automatically they come to a rhythm, they come to a understanding. Your energy gets used. Your energy will be expanded properly in the dimension in which you want to grow. You take so much of time to clear your car, to clear your house, to clean your room, but you don't get time to clean your mind. And then you complain, “Swamiji in those days I used to have so much of peace of mind and so much of relaxed mood, nowadays I am too stressed.” The man who is in the college level he also comes and gives the same complaint. The man who is in his 30’s, he also comes and says the same complaint. The man who is in 40’s, he also says the same thing. The man who is in 80’s, he also says the same thing. I was amazed, then who is actually in the peace? Everybody says ‘In the past, once upon a time I was so relaxed, so happy, so joyful. I had lot of peace of mind.’ Never. It is just your mind. At least once in a week try to sit with yourself, give appointment to yourself. You give appointment to so many thousands of people; give appointment to yourself. Meditation is nothing but the time, the appointment which you give it to yourself.

Try to minimize the quantity of your sleep so that the quality becomes deeper. Our modern day psychologists they say at particular two hours of your sleep, your body temperature falls two degree: just two hours. But that two hours changes from man to man. In East, they say Chandramana and Souramana. Chandramana means the man who can be alive throughout the night but he cannot be alive early morning. He cannot be active early morning. He can be alive, he can be fresh throughout the night but early morning, he needs rest. There are other type of people, they go the bed around 9 o’ clock, 8 o’ clock itself but early morning 3 o’ clock, they wake up. They are called Souramana.

(01:15)

Find out yourself which type you are. You are alive, active at the time of night or you are alive, active at the time of early morning! Somebody comes and tells Me, ‘Swamiji, both the time I am asleep, what to do?’ When you are neither souramana nor chandramana, you are just ‘apamana’- you are just only ‘apamana.’ Find out you are chandramana or souramana: your system is solar based or lunar based. If your being is lunar based, at the time of moon, you will be active. If your being is solar based, at the time of sun, you will be active. Find out which is your time and give rest to your body at that time, and the other time, if you are solar based, early morning, around three to five, brahma muhurta time, if you give rest to your body, that is totally enough.

(02:27)

Actually I did experiment in our ashram with our inmates. Can this be practical! We experimented and I have proved more than four hour sleep is not at all necessary. Maximum of four hours sleep is more than enough. And modern day psychologists they prove this. Be very clear, I am not talking only from Upanishads. I am talking from people who do research on this. Only thing you have to find which four hour. That differs from man to man. Two degree of your body temperature will fall at particular that four hour. You have to find out. If you feel fresh, active, alive in the time of night, then you will see the early morning the temperature falls down. Early morning you need rest. If you feel fresh, active, alive in the early morning, then this will be the time - Ten to twelve. So this will be the time you will be in the need of rest. Find out that time. Give rest to your body only at that time. Other times, engage yourself. Don’t allow your system to rest more than four hours. If you allow, the quality of sleep will reduce.

(03:51)

Be very clear. If you extend the quantity, what will happen? The quality will reduce. I could see some of the faces. ‘No, no, no. This is impractical.’ If you feel it is impractical, perfectly alright, you be as you are. What for I am speaking is, I am giving you the tips to reach the active, alive part of your being, part of your life. One thing I tell you, when you become active and alive, you can make more dollars. Now people feel practical. When it comes to dollars, everything become practical. When it comes to the meditation, ‘Oh! Let it be there, Swamiji. That and all is not for us.’ I have seen many people. They put big, big, cut outs of My photograph. Big, big blowers in their house and they worship. But when I say meditate, ‘Swamiji, don’t tell us to do that. We will worship You. We will put big garlands to You. We will do everything.’ They are ready to do all sorts of puja, they are ready to do all sorts of Arati, but they are not ready to work on themself. They just worship Me and tell, ‘You are great person. You can tell all great things Swamiji, but we cannot follow. It is impractical.’ When you worship also, you can always avoid Me. ‘He is great person, great soul. What He says is right. But it is only for Him, not for us. It is only practical for Him, not for us.’ It is a cunning way to avoid Master.

(05:41)

You see, even when you worship, you can avoid the Master. We also do the same thing. We worship all the great Masters. We put big, big photographs. We put big garlands and morning till night, we do arati but we never listen to their teachings. Whenever they teach something, we say, ‘No, no, no. That is impractical, that is impractical.’ If the worship leads you to follow Me, follow My teachings, then what you are doing is perfectly alright. I have seen many people having big, big cut outs in the houses, in our own devotees. I tell them, ‘Why do you make such big cut outs? Is small photo is not enough? Somebody comment, ‘Swamiji, you are photogenic. We want to look at Your face.’ Is this the… you see, is this the reasons? Is this the ways to worship? Is this the… but this is not going to help you. Just putting cut outs! There are thousands of reasons just like a star cut out, you replace My cut out. That is not going to help you. There are many people I have seen. Instead of putting the stars, if they are interested in movies, they put stars. When the interest change to meditation, just a change of subject. Immediately you re- change, you exchange My photograph with the movie star’s photograph. But is it going to help? No! So I tell you, never think it is impractical. What I tell you is totally practical.

(07:26)

Understand, maximum four hours sleep is more than enough for you. Then try to implement it, try to experiment it. I don’t even say implement, at least try to experiment. Find out your time-whether you are in chandramana or souramana or apamana, and try to guide your life. Then you will see, you will be really in Nithyananda-Nithya Ananda. When I say Nithyananda, I mean that Eternal Bliss. I don’t mean This Form. But people are very happy by catching the form. That’s what I always tell them. A Master says, ‘See, look at the moon. Moon is there.’ Then what disciples do? They just catch hold of the finger and hang around. They don’t see the moon, they catch hold of the finger. That’s what you will do. If you don’t practice the teachings, if you catch hold of My photograph, if you catch hold of My form, you will be doing the same mistake of what these people do. When you catch the finger and hang, what you will do? You will just turn the hand. And moon will be in one side and hand will be the other side. You will be misguiding the others also.

(08:53)

So don’t catch My finger when I show the moon, look at the moon. Then you will understand what I mean. So never think these teachings are impractical. They are verily practical. This is the fourth layer. Reduce the quantity of your sleep; increase the quality of your sleep is the method to expand the fourth layer energy. You do not know the amount of energy which is released when you reduce the quantity of your sleep. When the quality of sleep becomes deeper, you will see, the whole day you are alive, active. The day dreaming stops. These are all the methods to make your life alive and active.

(09:44)

The fifth thing, Anandamaya kosha-the fifth layer of your ‘I’. ‘Anandam Bramheti Navya Janaam.’ Upanishad says Ananda is God. Don’t waste it. Don’t live in a miserable state. We people, we know how to make everything as a misery. We know how to make anything as a worry. We have mastered that art-art of living with a long face. Most of the time we don’t laugh. we don’t smile. We have forgotten that language itself. We smile only with reasons and purposes. If the person who is next to you, if his status is higher than you, better than you, then only you show your face, you show your smile. You don’t smile from the heart. Most of the time, we don’t smile from the heart. We just look at his status. If he is rich, if he is higher than us, then we give a wide smile. If he is equal, then few inches less. If he is less, hmmm, only that much. We don’t even open the mouth. Actually the smile has become almost like a...what to say… you count, you calculate before you smile. You verify who is he, what is he doing, do all the research and enquiry, then only you go for smile. You have forgotten the language of expressing the ananda. That’s why the anandamaya kosha just gets shrink. The anandamaya kosha, the fifth layer of your body, never gets alive and active.

(12:01)

Few tips, few understandings to expand this Anandamaya kosha. Paint whenever it is possible. Do little dancing. I am not telling you to go and learn all the steps or all the arts of dancing, no need! No need for learning, no need for knowing all the systems, all the methods, no, all the steps, no. Just play some music and jump as you feel. It is not for anybody’s sake. Dance is for your sake. That’s a beautiful… to give you a definition, whenever the music enters into your being, if you allow the music to move your system, your hands, if you allow that joy to move your limbs, that expression of the ecstasy is what is dance. Just allow that joy of the music to move your hand or the legs, to move your head or your being. That is what is dance. Dance means don't think something like a system, learning according to the rules. For that, there are dances but I don’t think any successful dancer is a traditional man. Whenever you cross the tradition, whenever you touch the being, only then you are successful.

(13:31)

Just add these small things of dance, singing. Don’t think, ‘Oh, what will others think? What they will comment about me singing?’ Don’t bother about their comments. If they suffer, it is their headache. Why do you bother? At least once in a while in your bathroom, start singing, nothing wrong. Singing, dancing, carry always a smile with you. It is after all tax free, it is after all tax free. Carry a smile with you. Then you see the anandamaya kosha expands. Just be alive. Do one or two small mischievous things always. Just be innocent, mischievous, nothing wrong. Don’t be too serious. All seriousness is sickness. I tell you, when I say all, I mean ALL! All seriousness is just sickness. What for all your seriousness? Just to prove your ego, nothing else, just to prove your ego. All your seriousness makes you sick, because when anandamaya kosha is disturbed, our whole being starts shrinking.

(14:56)

From My own experience, I tell you, all reason, almost I can say, all the reasons for psychosomatic disease comes from this anandamaya kosha only. All psychosomatic diseases originates, starts from this anandamaya kosha only. When you carry a smile, when you carry a lengthy walk, even when you walk I have seen, many people they walk with a minimum movements. They can’t use their whole body. When you walk, when you live, you don’t use your whole body. You use only the minimum portions of your hands and legs. It means what? You are not bubbling, you are not overflowing, you are not joyful. When you laugh, you don’t use your whole being-only two inch, three inch, not more than that. Never your being smiles, never your being laughs.

(16:07)

A small story. A man is trying to crack a joke. He was sitting and chatting with his friends over a cup of coffee trying to crack a joke. To tell a joke, you need intelligence actually. He somehow missed the punch line. The whole joke is lost. Nobody laughed. Everybody was just keeping quiet. But one man, one friend who was in the group, he started laughing: laughing uproariously, just a good belly laughter, laughing uproariously. Other friends called him, ‘Hey! why are you laughing? keep quiet. Neither we understood what he said nor he himself has understood what he said. Why are you laughing? What have you understood?’ The man who laughed, he calmed himself down and replied, ‘Laugh now itself. Otherwise he will tell the same joke once more.’ Only at that time of danger of listening to same joke once more you laugh. Even then you calculate and laugh. You never allow the being to open. We have so much of conditioning.

(17:33)

You know, sadist people never allow the others to be joyful. All the social conditionings is designed by sadist people, by sadist people: all social conditionings. Whenever you are not hurting anybody, be joyful to your maximum limit. You will see that anandamaya kosha expands. If you are happy by painting, whenever you find time, start painting. Don’t measure the cost of it. ‘Oh! Like this painting, I can get it in market for one dollar.’ One dollar is not equal to your painting, it is not equal to your ananda. Your anandamaya kosha expands. Have at least one or two small, small habits- painting, dancing, singing. Even though it is torture for others, don’t bother. Have your space, have your small habits. I tell you, not your quality, it expands your being. I give you this as a meditation technique. Dance is a great meditation technique to make you alive.

(18:53)

Whenever you are alone, whenever you find time, dance for some music. I don’t say only dance for this music or that music. Play some music, jump around. Be alive. Carry the small things which makes you joyful without hurting others. A laughter, a laughter from the heart, innocence, the small, small things,.. Small, small joys. You see, we become too serious about the life, about the things. We forgot these small dimensions, small aspects of our life, small details of your life but these small details are nothing but meditation techniques, they are nothing but meditation techniques. Little bit of dancing, little bit of jumping around, little bit of singing, little bit of painting, little bit of laughing. Once in a while, laugh for no reason, nothing wrong: nothing wrong. Laugh for no reason. These things expand your anandamaya kosha.

Whenever you are in long face, remember this. Vivekananda says, “Whenever you are in a depressed mood with a long face, lock yourself in the room. You have no right to spread sorrow or sadness in the life, in the world, in the society.” You have no right to spread depression or the sorrow in the world. There are enough of people who are depressed, there is enough of depression, there is enough of sorrow in the world. You have no right to add something more. Whenever you are dull, dead, depressed, lock yourself in the room. Then all of us has to be in the room throughout the day.

(01:09)

Whenever you come out, as you wear the dress, wear a smile, wear a dancing mood, public joy and don’t tell, I have seen many people I don’t feel, how can I express Swamiji? When you express only, you start experiencing. Expression and the experience go hand in hand. Start expressing, you will start seeing, you will start experiencing. Don’t wait for the experience to happen, then we will express. Express, then you will see experience happens. Wait for the experience, whatever experience comes, you know how to make it as a worry. Anything you can see, you can make it as a worry, because you have mastered the art, you have mastered the art.

(02:04)

A small story. A man was sitting outside his house and weeping and wailing very badly. His friend came and enquired, ‘What happened, what happened? Why are you weeping so much?’ He said, ‘No, no. Just three days ago, my grandfather passed away, writing a will, leaving a will all his properties to me.’ The man said, ‘What is wrong in it? You yourself sixty, your grandfather must have been above hundred. It is too late, it has come, no problem. I know your grandfather. He had lot of properties and you got that properties. You should be happy. You should be joyful.’ ‘No, no, no. You don’t know. One month ago, my uncle also passed away leaving all his properties to me.’ ‘Perfectly alright. I know your uncle. He also must be above eighty and he also had millions of dollars. Now you are rich. Why are you bothering so much about it?’ ‘No, no, no. You don’t know. Three months ago, my grandmother passed away leaving all her properties.’ This man thought, ‘Really he has gone crazy or what? Three relatives leaving their properties and passing away. This is the moment we celebrate it.’ Then he started advising, ‘Are you really sensitive? You feel lonely because they have all died? What is happening? What is the reason? At least tell me the reason. You can… by sharing your dukkha, sharing your sorrow, you can be relaxed. He said, ‘No, no. It is not my problem. You don’t understand. Now I have no more relatives who will leave their properties and die. I have nobody else who will give their properties and die!’

(04:11)

How much you get, your mind asks, ‘What next? What next? What next?’ You take everything as your birthright. Till you get the properties of your father, you will think, ‘When it will come? When it will come?’ When it comes, you take it as a birthright. When you start thinking, the neighbours what next. Because you have mastered the art of worrying. Anything you can make it as a worry. That’s what, there is a saying. ‘Before you get, even the mustard seed, looks like a mountain. Once you attain, achieve, even the mountain looks like a mustard seed.’ When it is in your garage, even the mountain looks like a mustard seed. That’s what is mind.

(05:06)

So never think, expect that joy will come from inside. You can even jump around or move around it. Now itself make your being alive, carry a smile with you always. It is not for the sake of somebody else I am telling you, it is for the sake of you. When you smile, don’t think somebody else is going to have some benefit, no! It is you who are going to have the benefit. When you are in the blissful mood, don’t think somebody else is going to have some benefit from you, no! It is you who is going to live your life. So expand the fifth layer of your being. ’Anandam Bramheti navya Jaanaam’. Ananda is God. Don’t miss it by not having it. don’t waste it by not enjoying it. It is there in your life, just small, small expressions!

(06:05)

In our ashram, we have a habit. If somebody drops anything, if somebody breaks anything, we immediately say thank you. We immediately shout, ‘Thanks’. See, the dropping or breaking nobody will do purposely. If somebody drops, you can make the whole scene mess, shouting at them, ‘Fool! Don’t you have brain?’ If he has got brain, why will he marry you? Why will he come and live with you? You can make the whole scene mess also. And the same way, you can make the whole scene joyful also. Nobody is going to drop anything or break anything purposely. It is already dropped, now nothing can be done. If you shout also nothing can be done. If you weep also, nothing can be done. It has happened. Now it is up to you whether to handle the moment joyfully and take it lightly or whether to make it as a reason to shout at others. You see, we are just inside, we are carrying a big volcano of suppressed emotions. So we are just waiting to catch some reason to jump on somebody. Only you want small reasons. You don’t need much big reasons. Small reasons are enough to jump on the people.

(07:27)

A small example. Once a lion was just trying to catch the deer and it has caught and it is about to kill. The deer shouted, ‘Oh! What have I done. I have not done any mistake. Why are you killing me? Lion told, ‘What? You have not done any mistake? I was about to drink that water in the lake, the lake water. You have entered into the lake and made the whole thing muddy. I am not able to drink it.’ ‘No, no, no. You know the truth. I have not even entered inside the lake. I am just outside. How can you tell such a big lie? ‘No, no. You were seeing your face in that. When you saw your face, you may not put your mouth in the water but you have seen your face in the lake. That itself made the lake muddy.’ ‘No, no. Tell me the truth. I have not even gone near the lake. Why are you telling such big lie? Please, I have not gone near the lake. How can you say, how can you make me the reason for that muddy lake?’ ‘No, you may not have done but your forefathers must have done. Your father must have done. Your mother must have done. That’s why the lake is muddy. Otherwise, how can this lake become muddy?’ See, to jump on others, you can find any reason, you can find any reason.

(08:52)

This is the way in our life. You are just bubbling. You just want reasons to jump on others. Never, never, never do that. Carry a live mood, alive being within you. You will see, you can expand all the five layers and your small i can become big I. Your Nithyananda can become Nithya Ananda. Your suffering, dukkha can become Eternal Bliss. So carry these few ideas, these few understandings in your life. Then you will see, your small i which creates continuous problem becomes big I and creates continuous Bliss. The I problem will disappear. The I problem will simply not only be solved, it will be dissolved into the Eternal Bliss. Let you enter, be in, and become Eternal Bliss-Nithyananda. Thank you.

|| Ajnana timirandhasya jnanajna salakaya chaksuru militam yen tasmai sri gurave namah om|| I welcome you all with My love.

(01:15)

A small story. Once a man woke up from his bed early morning. As soon as he woke up, he saw his eyes were bulged and ears have protruded, heavy pain in the neck. Eyes have bulged, ears have protruded, heavy pain in the neck. Immediately he rushed to the doctor who diagnosed, checked him thoroughly and gave him some prescription and a warning. He said, ‘It is a very serious problem. You should take these medicines for six months without even one day gap. The side effect of this will be you will lose all your hair.’ The man religiously without even missing one day, took all the medicines. The side effect-losing all the hair happened, but not the main effect. The problem continued.

(02:47)

He went to the next doctor. Next doctor tried his best and told, ‘I think there is some serious problem in your left arm. It has to be amputated. What connection is there between the eyes and the ears, of left arm only God knows! It has to be amputated. The suffering is so much the man could not say anything except ‘yes’. He allowed. His hand is amputated. After the surgery, three months he was all right. After three months, again the problem started. Problem continued.

(03:44)

And he went to the third doctor who declared he couldn’t diagnose the problem. He couldn’t find the reason for it. ‘Hope you may be alive only one more month. The same situation continues, you will be alive only one more month.’ When he came to know that he will be alive only one more month, he was totally depressed. After two-three days, he recovered and decided to live his life. Wherever it is possible, whatever way it is possible, he started working. He started taking all types of loans. When he decided he is going to live only one more month, the first choice: he took all types of loans, got new bungalow, got new cars, furnitures, went to a tailor shop to have a new suit for himself.

(04:59)

When the tailor was taking measurements, he said, ‘make a fifteen inch collar. high neck.’ Tailor said, ‘No, for your size, it has to be eighteen inch.’ Man argued, ‘No, no, no. What do you know? Last six months, I am wearing only fifteen inch. That feels good. Tailor said, ‘Do you know instead of eighteen, if you wear fifteen, what will happen? Man asked, ‘What will happen?’ ‘Your eyes will bulge, ears will protrude’. Nothing else! Your whole life whatever solution you are trying to find from the outer world, it is just like this story. If you have missed the story, don’t worry. Don’t miss the laughter. I think she was enquiring. Even if you miss the story, don’t miss the laughter.

(06:07)

One more story just dedicated to you. In India, Sardarji jokes are very popular. Any Sardarji, hmm? Oh! Maybe you don’t mind? That’s nice... There was a competition. Hundred jokes will be told. If you don’t laugh, you will have one million dollar prize. One man got into the stage. People have started cracking jokes. Fifty somehow he could manage but not more than that. He has to laugh. Next man managed seventy. Third, our hero got into the stage. He could manage ninety. Ninety five, yes, a slight smile, not even a laughter, a beam of smile entered his face. His wife was sitting just in front of him. Started shouting, ‘Hey! Keep quiet, keep quiet! One million dollar! At least for next two minutes, keep quiet: only two minutes! Don’t miss the one million dollar.’ But somehow, finally ninety eighth joke, nothing could be done, he laughed. He laughed uproariously. And he came down. The wife enquired, ‘What has happened? You waited patiently so long. You controlled yourself so long. What has happened? Last only two minutes you could have managed. Why did you miss? He replied, ‘No, no. Now only I understood the first joke!’ Even if you miss some jokes, don’t miss the laughter. Don’t laugh separately, don’t laugh separately after some half an hour.

(08:30)

Let us go to the first story. Our life is nothing but the first story. The problem is just here (shows the throat) Two inch, two-three inch! But you go round searching for solutions. You search exactly where solution cannot be found. You search everywhere except yourself. If you just look into yourself for a second, for a moment, only the two inch of relaxation, nothing else, just two inch of relaxation, the whole problem could have been solved: not only solved, dissolved! Instead of that, you go on asking for solution from all possible astrologers, all possible temples, all possible masters, all possible palm readers or whatever way it is possible, you try to find solutions. You go on searching for solutions in so many places, so many ways but except looking into yourself. If you just look into yourself for a moment, I don’t say to enter into your being totally, just for a moment. Then you will see, so many things gets transformed by itself.

(10:16)

These two days, you are not going to do anything else except looking into yourself. You are given place. No, space to look into yourself, just to look, just to see, just to turn inwards. You are given a chance, time and space to look into your system, into your being. So here, I wanted to give you few tips to use this two days maximum, few points to be remembered to have the maximum benefit, to have best out of this two-days program. The program is called Ananda Spurana. The meaning of that word is ‘Bliss flowering’. The ‘Spurana’ word exactly it has no translation. It can be translated as a fountain. Like a fountain, bliss or the energy is continuously bubbling in you, flowing in you, happening in you. Only thing, you hide it. You don’t let it happen to you.

(11:40)

Now for these two days you are asked or you are requested to take away your hands, allow that joy to happen, allow that bliss to happen just to have a taste of that ananda, taste of that bliss. The program is designed to have a taste of your inner being, taste of your inner bliss. You can attend this program in three days. One is just intellectually. If you just take this class as intellectual class, you will learn a lot, you will learn a lot. Intellectually means, just sitting with your head: nothing else! Just your head will be concentrated. If you want to take the intellectual knowledge just that is enough, nothing else is necessary. You don’t need anything else. If you are alert without sleeping in the class, that’s enough, nothing much is necessary. If you feel like sleeping, the last row is reserved for you. You can go there and sit and sleep. Please don’t sleep inside the class: not for your sake, at least for My sake. Why I say My sake, a small story.

(13:16)

Once a taxi driver from Chennai...anybody from Chennai, who lived in Chennai? Hmm, then you will understand. Taxi driver in Chennai, they lead you directly to hell! A straight way to hell. They don’t take you by short cut or they don’t take you by the long route or anything: direct way to hell! If you are expectant mother, never sit in Chennai taxi, and roads are also specially designed. Roads are also specially designed; the drivers are specially trained. Anyhow, one day morning, one taxi driver from Chennai and one great religious preacher-both of them died, directly went to the Court of Yamadharma. All of you understand the Yamadharma means he is the man who gives judgement. For people from West, I am telling. He is like a St.Peter who gives the judgement. Now I have little problem. I will have to use both cultural words but I will try to manage.

(14:53)

Whenever you don’t understand any technical terms, you are free to ask Me immediately. You don’t have to feel shy. Immediately just raise your hand. Then I will understand your question and answer you. So you can feel free to question anything or to ask anything. Don’t feel shy or don’t feel reluctant, ‘How can I ask or how can I question?’ because if you don’t understand, you will misunderstand. The one more big problem is you will go and tell outside that this is what I heard.

(15:37)

Both of them-the great religious preacher and the taxi driver, both of them reached the Yama’s court for judgement. First the taxi driver pushed himself into and came in. Yama enquired, ‘What is your name?’ He said, ‘My name is so and so’. ‘What were you doing?’ ‘I was driving taxi in Chennai.’ So he took out the list of merit and sins. Finally he gave the judgement. ‘Alright! Let you have silken robe, golden staff and first class AC seat in the Swarga, in the heaven.’ He sent. Next came this religious preacher. He was asked, ‘What is your name?’ ‘My name is so and so.’ ‘What were you doing?’ ‘I was preaching God’s word around the world, all over the world I used to go round and preach Lord’s name, preach the divine message.’ The list of the merit and sins is taken out and read. Yama gave the judgement. ‘Let you have cotton robe and wooden staff and third class room in heaven.’

(17:20)

The preacher got terribly angry, annoyed. He started shouting, ‘I will sue you’. Maybe he must have too much visited America. ‘I will sue you. What for a taxi driver you have given first class treatment and for me third class? I preach the divine message around the world. So many thousands of Satsangs I conducted. So many thousands of good things I have done. Everywhere I was speaking about divine message, divine glory. How can you give me third class, for him first class?’ The Yama said, ‘Here we don’t bother what you do. We bother only the results. When he was driving, people were praying for their lives. When you were preaching, people were sleeping. When you were preaching, people were sleeping; when he was driving, people were praying for their lives. So, we don’t bother what you do. We bother what is the result.

(18:34)

So may not be for your sake, at least for My sake, don’t sleep. Otherwise when I go there, I will be given wooden staff and third class room. At least for My sake, don’t sleep. If you feel like sleeping, sit in the last row so that I will have argument, ‘No, they have not slept in My class. They were sleeping only outside the room, outside the class.’ I can save My face!

If you just give a little bit of attention, that is enough. The class will be useful to you as a intellectual class. You may learn little bit of knowledge but by that, you are having only the 33% of the benefit, not more than that, not more than that. If you attend only as an intellectual class, when you go out, you will tell, ‘This Swami is a very great orator. How nicely He speaks!’ Only that much. That is not going to help you. That is not going to give you the total result. Next thing, you can attend with little bit of heart, emotion. You may be searching for some meditation. You may be thinking, you might have heard about meditation somewhere in some book and that is now, in modern day that is the best selling ideology. So somewhere you must have read, so you are thinking, ‘I should go for some meditation.’ Somehow, you heard about Me. You have come here. If you attend with a little bit of emotion and little bit of thinking of meditation, little bit of heart, you may have the second layer. You may feel little refreshed. You may feel little relaxed. You may feel little joyful, but even that is not enough. When you feel little bit joyful, you will go and tell, ‘Pa, we had a beautiful weekend this time. It was really a nice weekend. But even that is not enough.

(02:09)

Only when you attend with your whole being, only when you put your whole effort, then you will see something new happens in your being. Only then, you will really have all the 100% benefit. If you sit only with your head, you will have only 33%. If you sit with your heart, a little bit of involvement, you will feel only the 66. Only when you put your whole being100%, you will see the total result or you will attend, you will take this as a spiritual program. The whole being can be touched. A real result can happen. Water becomes steam only at 100th degree, never in the 99.9. If you put 99.9 also, it is simply useless. Put your whole thing. Whatever efforts you have, put the whole thing and do the meditations. Put the whole thing and do the meditations. Whatever effort you have, whatever energy you have, whatever mind you have...of course, you cannot get others’ mind, you cannot catch others’ energy but whatever you have, put the whole effort and do it, put the whole effort and do it.

(03:50)

One man fell sick. Asked his colleague to suggest a good doctor. The colleague suggested. Here is Dr. Pill, very good doctor. Go to him. He will surely cure you but he is little costly. He takes 500 dollars for his first visit. For next visit, 100 dollars, but surely he will cure you. The man wants to go to the same doctor but wants to save little bit money also. So he planned, went to the doctor, entered his cabin, told, ‘Doctor, I have come back. He acted as if he is coming for the second time. Not even for a moment, doctor was duped or fooled. He quickly checked him and after few minutes, he declared, ‘Oh! Continue the same medication which I gave last time. Continue the same medicines which I gave last time.’

(04:59)

See, when you try to save, you get only that much of result, you get only that much of benefit, not more than that. So only when you put your whole thing, you get the total benefit. So put your whole effort. Whenever the meditations are practised, don’t reserve your being half and don’t reserve your being or the head or anything. Understand the instructions and put your being totally. Put your whole effort. Otherwise you will see, you will be having only the intellectual knowledge. Of course, it is not that it is for that, it is but it is not total, it is not total. Just to have the intellectual knowledge, you don’t have to come here, sit in front of computer or sit in front of some professor. They will speak, they will tell you in a much better way. They will at least tell you in your english. I am speaking in My own english. I am sorry about it but I know only this much of language. There are many people who are much better orators than Me. There are so many ways to get the knowledge. Just sit in front of computer. Nowadays there is no need for any professor or anything. Just sit in front of internet. You get all the information but it will be only intellectual.

(06:55)

If you attend this class also with your head, only with your attention, it will be nothing more than intellectual. If you attend with little heart, little love, sympathy for Me, ‘Oh! He seems to sound logical. He seems to be little honest. Let me see what He says.’ That much of sympathy. With that if you sit, of course you will taste some one meditation. You will have the taste of one meditation. You will feel little relaxed. You will feel little joyful. But only when you put your whole being, you really feel the bliss. You really feel the transformation. You really feel that something new has happened to you. Only then you feel some new experience it is. Here I am not teaching only by words. I am teaching more by energy and the methods, more by the techniques.

(07:57)

So please don’t miss even one technique or one session. Don’t miss even one technique or one session. Put your whole effort. Please remove all the watches. You are going to be... in timeless zone at least for next 36 hours. If possible, no jewellery also. What for we are here? So we are here only for meditation. Because the gold is the energy. Whenever the energy is created in your system, in your being, wherever the gold is there, it just blocks in those points. That’s why I say no jewellery, minimum jewellery, as minimum as possible. Of course, I am wearing very big jewellery. I don’t need to become enlightened anymore, that’s why I am having!

(09:16)

Put your whole effort: one thing. Next thing, whenever you do your meditations, whenever you take up something like this, unique things to go beyond the mind, your mind will create the maximum troubles, maximum disturbance. I always tell, in India, of course in India, it is a big problem, here it is not. Mind and the meditation are just like mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. They can never stay together. Of course, here problem itself is not existing. Almost...here the mother-in-law problem is there? You see, individually both are very good persons but when they are together they can’t. Just like that, your mind and meditation. Both of them try to possess you. Then problem starts. Your mind will never let the meditation to happen to you. It will try all its best to disturb you, to distract you. Don’t bother about it. Put your effort. Don’t bother about the mind.

(10:47)

When you are asked to practice some techniques, there are many techniques which are going to be practiced, either deep breathing or humming. There are many techniques going to be. When you do the deep breathing and all, one or two minutes you will feel, ‘No, no, no. I feel I may faint. I think I am not feeling well. Last two-three days, I had a stroke, fever, I think I am having back pain. Let me rest for this meditation. Let me do the next meditation. Mind will give all its reasons. Please don’t listen to the mind. Even if you faint, don’t bother. Volunteers here will take care of you. We will sprinkle water and wake you, make you again meditate. Don’t think by fainting you can escape, no! Again you will be made to meditate.

A small incident, this happened in Zen monastery. A man came and asked the master, ‘Master, I want meditation. I want zen.’ Master told, ‘Meditate silently for three months.’ He was meditating. Nothing happened. Again he went and asked. ‘Meditate silently for three months.’ Nothing happened. Same way, it continued for five times. Sixth time, the disciple told, ‘It is enough. I am leaving the ashram.’ Master told, ‘No, no, no, no. Wait only for one week. Then also nothing happened. This time, master told, ‘Tell yourself. In three days you are going to become enlightened or you will kill yourself.’ Disciple told, ‘Alright! That’s the right thing because what is the use in living? I have no other way.’ He decided and sat. ’Either I will become enlightened and get up or I will die.’ The moment he sat, he became enlightened!

(13:05)

It is nothing. The meditation or the spirituality is nothing. It is just your conscious decision-a clear conscious decision ‘I will.’ Let your urge become urgent. Let your whole being be used. If you have back pain, don’t bother, do totally. You will see, the back pain disappears. Because around the world, thousands and thousands of people have practised these meditation techniques. I have always seen. If you ask the people who have attended, then you will be able to understand. You will be able to listen their experiences. Not one or two, here this Swarna was telling, she had a fifteen years of back pain. It has simply disappeared. It’s not there at all! How many months over? She is not here. I think more than two-three months. Two-three months no? last time, when you attended? Five months over. September you all came and attended. September they attended. Now already five months over. She says back pain has disappeared.

(14:27)

Not this, not the one case. There are thousands and thousands. Why I say is the techniques are foolproof. Don’t bother about it. Put your whole effort. Don’t intellectually analyse. You see, discourses you analyse anything. Intellectually you can understand: techniques you cannot understand. They are something more deeper. They are something to do with your being. Intellectually you cannot analyse. Intellectually it is difficult to understand. So put your whole effort. Then you will see the result happening in your system. Your system is just, your being is flowering. Don’t have any reservations to practice the meditation, to participate in anything. Whenever any session is brought up, any program is brought up, put your whole effort, put your whole being.

(15:38)

In the zen they say the enthusiasm of initial level. Initial level, you have always enthusiasm. They say a beautiful word ‘honeymoon’. It is from zen. The word honeymoon is from zen. I always tell the people: it is only honeymoon, never honeysun. Why? How long a moon will stay? How long a moon will stay? Sixteen days. In sixteen days it will disappear. Only sixteen days is the life of the moon. Sixteen days is the time of the moon. Of course, for us sixteen days is the time. The emotion also will stay only for sixteen days. That is why it is honeymoon, never the honeysun. They say the moon of the enthusiasm of the honeymoon-the initial enthusiasm. Anything when you start, you have a tremendous enthusiasm. Kids when they go to the school, initially they will have the tremendous enthusiasm. Do everything with that enthusiasm, with that enthu...with that excitement. Do everything, try with everything with that excitement, with that sincerity, with that effort.

(17:12)

Two-three more things. A small story from zen. Once a king went to see the zen Master. He sent his visiting card through the disciple, through a disciple to the Master. The card says the name of the king and below-Governor of Japan. When the card was taken to the Master, ‘I have no business with such a fellow. Send him back.’ The Master sent the card. When the card was brought back to the king, he realised his mistake, took a pencil, erased the word-Governor of Japan. Sent the same card with only his name. When the card was taken to the Master again, ‘Oh, is it this man? Bring him here. I am waiting to see him.’ When the card was sent his name and the title, Governor of Japan, Master was not ready to see him. When the card was sent only with his name, Master says ‘Bring him. I am here to see him.’ So when you carry your title, you can’t have zen, you can’t have meditation.

(18:46)

Wherever we go, we carry our visiting card. Never think visiting card is this size. Visiting card is board in size actually. We are carrying it on our head. That is why wherever we go, they kept stuck or we get the blows. You continuously carry your titles on your head. Just for these two days, keep your titles where you leave your shoes. Keep your titles where you keep your shoes. Keep your mind, keep your worries, keep your titles where you keep your shoes. I can be sure they will be there. When you go back, pick it up and go. Your shoes may be lost but never your titles, because your shoes may be useful for somebody else but never your titles, never your mind. Your shoes may be useful for somebody but your mind will be useful for nobody. So don’t bother. Leave them where you leave your shoes. When you go back tomorrow evening, tomorrow night, you can pick them up. You can be sure they will be there safely.

Sit in a very comfortable position because two days you are going to sit. If you want, you can sit in the chair, no problem. And don’t sit behind somebody. Sit so that you can see Me, I will be able to see you. I teach more by body language than by verbal language. It will be easy for you to pick up through My expression than through My words. First thing, because I don’t know much of the language. I know only little bit. Of course, Radha will help Me with words whenever I am in difficulty, supply words. One or two persons who knows Tamil and English will sit here in front. So whenever I ask for words to supply. If you want, you can stretch your leg. Sit comfortably. Don’t bother about formalities and procedures. You can stretch your leg. Only thing, don’t sleep- for My sake, not for your sake. Just for My sake, don’t sleep.

(01:41)

Whenever you attend discourses or lectures related to medicine, medical field, medical discourses...You see, for example you go to a medical discourse. That professor says, ‘If somebody has a small, mild, pain in this chest region, it may be the symptom of heart problem. If somebody gets continuous pain in the knee, it may lead to arthritis. If you listen these type of few words, immediately you verify with yourself. Even though you know that you are healthy, young, perfectly alright, just for a moment, you verify with yourself. You know the new discoveries- the research they say, in the medical schools: whenever a particular disease is dealt, all the students, they feel the symptoms of that disease. Have you heard of it? Have you heard of this phenomenon? Whenever if the headache...the lessons are going on headache, all the students, they get the taste or glimpse of the symptoms because you contemplate on it.

(03:13)

Whenever you attend the medical discourses, you verify, check with yourself, you refer, you just touch and feel, ‘Am I having knee pain?’ No. ‘Am I having chest pain?’ No. At least mentally you feel it. You verify with yourself but when it comes to the spiritual things, when it comes to the spiritual things, when you go to some spiritual discourse, that person says, life means you should be more adjusting. You should have love. You should have the sense of egolessness. You should adjust and live. Immediately what we do? We refer with others. I think my husband needs all this advice. I think my wife should be brought for this discourse. Tomorrow I should surely bring my mother-in-law. Tomorrow I should surely bring my wife.

(04:27)

Whenever something physical is taught, medical is taught, you refer with yourself. Whenever something spiritual or the meditation is given, you refer with others. Whether he is doing properly or she is doing properly, or he is behaving rightly or she is behaving wrongly. It is your mental conditioning. Whenever something medical, you refer with you; whenever something spiritual, you refer with the next person. That’s why I always tell husband-wives, please don’t sit next to each other. The class instructions: don’t sit next to your friend. Don’t sit next to your relatives. What happens you know, when the husbands and wives sit next to each other, whenever I support someway the husbands, immediately they turn, ‘Listen, this is what I am telling you years together.’ Whenever I support the wives, they say, ‘Hmm, have you heard what Swamiji is telling? From the day I married, I am telling you that same only. You are not listening.’ Instead of you listening, you change your life, you pass the buck to the next person. Everybody thinks I am speaking for the neighbour. No, actually everybody thinks, ‘This is not for me. I am not so bad. I am little bad but not so worse as Swamiji says. It is for I think may be for my friend.’

(06:21)

Once Nasirudin’s wife, she was in death bed. She is about to die. Nasirudin was weeping and wailing. She shouted, ‘You fool! Don’t act. I know, as soon as I die, you will marry.’ He said, ‘I agree that I am a fool but nor so fool to marry once more.’ So we always think, ‘I am little fool but not so much as Swamiji says. I think it is for the next person. It is for the third person.’ And I have always seen... Have you got your ribbon, that blindfold? Not yet? Please bring it. You may be asked to tie your eyes before the meditation. When I say, ‘Please close your eyes and tie the ribbons,’ I always have seen people just watching whether everybody else has tied or not. Nobody ties the ribbon. They always see whether everybody else tied or not. And I have seen somebody complaining, ‘Swamiji, he has not tied.’ How do you know he has not closed his eyes? Because you have not closed. We live only watching others. Most of the time, we live only watching others, what others are doing.

(08:04)

Sometimes I have seen strange thing. Of course, here it is a small group. Here thousand people attend. In Salem, once we did the meditation camp-one day camp. 5000-6000 people! Sometimes the mass meditations, 30000 people! How to control? But no other way. We were fortunate we can have... even ASP also in India, the two days camp also, hundreds of people attend. Here it is a small group. The interaction can be more and not only that, you can be straight to the point. It’s nice. I have seen because such big crowd, people just get up and see whether everybody has closed their eyes or not. Once they are convinced that everybody else has closed their eyes only then they go for closing their eyes.

(09:03)

So here, please don’t wait for the others to close their eyes, because they will be waiting for you to close. Then who will close first? So whenever you are asked, just don’t bother about the other. You start doing. For these next two days, try your best to avoid thinking about the time, thinking about your routine, thinking about your day-to-day activity. These two days almost all of you have decided to be here. Am I right? So when you have decided to be here, why not take the maximum, why not have the maximum? And one more thing, many of you must have attended many of these classes, courses, read lot of books, must have been exposed for so many spiritual classes, spiritual courses, spiritual programs. Any of you who attended like this classes, courses, satsangs earlier? Many. My only humble request, if you attended, perfectly alright, nothing wrong but don’t verify what I teach with those earlier knowledge. If you verify, you will be doing only two things. Either you will agree or disagree. By disagreeing, you will not be practising the meditation, you will be losing. By agreeing, you will be telling, ‘O, the same thing what I heard there.’ Even then, then also you will not practice. Because last time you never practiced, that is why you are here again. Last time if you had practised perfectly, there is no need for one more class. You would have reached the totality. Last time what you did? You attended but not put the effort, put the effort totally. That is the same thing you will be doing again. Don’t compare either agree nor disagree. Just feel fresh. See the whole thing totally with a new eyes and put your effort. Nothing else is required. Everything else will happen.

(11:41)

As far as the technique is concerned, just put your effort. You will see the miracles happen in your system, miracles happen in your being. Allow the being to flower because it is continuously flowering. Never think because of you your life is running, in spite of you, it is running. Be always very clear. Have this one saying in your house, in your bedroom-’Never think because of you the world or your life is running: in spite of you it is running.’ That is actually true. In spite of you, God is running the world. In spite of you, he is running your life. So these are the few things. Now we will take up two techniques, small techniques to be practised. The first thing, now we will take the vow-conscious decision, to use these two days maximum, conscious decision to put your total effort, your total being for the meditation. We will close our eyes and collect your whole mind. I will guide you. You can start.

(13:19)

Just sit in a comfortable position. Close your eyes.... Feel your boundary where your body ends and where the earth starts, where the ground starts. Feel your boundary where your body ends and where the space starts. Just bring your mind inside your body instead of moving around. Just bring your mind to your body… Meditation Music

(15:41)

Consciously decide to tell your mind, ‘I will put all my effort, my total being to understand and experiment and experience the meditation. Tell your mind very clearly, verbally, ‘I will put all my effort to understand, experiment and experience the bliss for meditation. Tell your body, ‘I will put all my effort to do all the meditation techniques and experience the bliss. Consciously, very clearly decide. Let your decision spread throughout your body and mind. Let it be so strong, so alive, so vibrant that your body and mind is ready for meditation. Tell your mind, repeat it mentally these few words. ‘I will put all my effort to understand, experiment and experience the meditation, the bliss. Thank you
