On 5 and 6 July 2006, an acharya (ordained teacher) of Dhyanapeetam conducted the Ananda Spurana Program for the prisoners in the Central prison in Salem, Tamilnadu.

A group of 160 from the prison attended the program. The meditation sessions and the discourses proved to be a deep experience to the participants. Sharing their experiences during the program and at the end of it, they expressed tremendous gratitude for the awakening through the program.

One of them said at the end of the program, 'I deserted my wife and left her due to my wayward ways. These meditation sessions have taught me what it is to respect another person and I feel tremendously grateful for this deep awakening in me.' Another of them said, 'I am here by false evidence against me. After this program, I feel, it does not matter even if I am here all the time. I feel a strange and unexplainable happiness suddenly.'
