Shravan Ka Somvar Siva Puja

The Shravan Ka Somvar Siva Puja at KAILASA OHIO, USA, was a deeply moving observance held in honor of Paramashiva during the second Monday (*Somvar*) of the sacred Hindu month of Shravan (observed on July 29, 2024). This period is highly auspicious for Shaivite Hindus and is observed with immense spiritual intensity globally. Recognizing the profound cultural and spiritual needs of the local community, KAILASA Ohio specifically hosted a pre-scheduled visit by a large group of 60 Nepali-Bhutanese senior citizens from the Metro Columbus area, which is home to one of the largest Nepali-Bhutanese populations in the United States. The event engaged 70 participants overall, supported by the dedicated service of 2 volunteers who ensured the smooth and sacred execution of the rituals.

The devotional proceedings commenced around 1:00 PM with a special Guru Puja and Siva Puja, offered specifically for the attendees to invoke the grace of THE SPH and all the gods and goddesses of KAILASA. The atmosphere was charged with devotion and reverence, amplified by celebratory *kirtan* and spiritual dancing, creating a powerful experience of *Shiva Bhakti*. The senior citizens were blessed by the opportunity to participate in these ancient Hindu rituals and express their devotion in an authentic, communal setting.

Following the temple ceremonies, the group proceeded to the revered riverbank of Paschim Prayag, where the Ananda Ganga flows within the KAILASA OHIO premises. Participants reverently filled their pots with the sacred water, mirroring the traditions associated with holy rivers. They then performed *Abhishekam* (ritual pouring) to the Shivalinga positioned by the river bank. This act symbolizes purification and devotion, connecting the participants directly to the cosmic energy of Paramashiva and enabling them to connect with THE SPH to manifest the state, space, powers, being and superconsciousness of Paramashiva. KAILASA Ohio continues to serve as an integral spiritual center for the Nepali-Bhutanese diaspora in the region, supporting THE SPH’s mission of reviving the ancient enlightened Sanatana Hindu civilization globally by providing access to authentic Hindu traditions.
