Sukravara Abhishekam at KAILASA SALEM

The sacred Sukravara Abhishekam, a significant part of the daily rituals (Nithyotsavam), was meticulously performed at KAILASA SALEM on November 7, 2025. Sukravara, meaning 'Friday', is dedicated to the worship of the Divine Mother or Devi, embodying prosperity and auspiciousness.

Description of the Ritual

This profound Vedic ritual involves bathing the deity with specific sacred substances, known as *Dravyas*, accompanied by the chanting of specific mantras and prayers. The performance of *Abhishekam* is considered a powerful means of invoking divine grace and purification.

During the Sukravara Abhishekam, the following sacred materials were offered:

• Milk (for longevity and purity)
• Honey (for health and sweetness in life)
• Tender Coconut Water (for fulfillment and peace)
• Sandalwood Paste (for cooling and spiritual fragrance)
• Turmeric Powder (for auspiciousness and protection)
• Rose Water (for fragrance and devotion)

Each offering cleanses the deity and simultaneously invokes specific blessings for the participating devotees. Following the bathing ceremony, the deity was elaborately decorated with new vestments, jewels, and vibrant flowers, followed by the offering of fruits and other sacred items (*Naivedyam*). This daily practice is believed to purify the physical and mental bodies of devotees, thereby attracting peace, prosperity, and spiritual liberation (*Moksha*).
